Easter Holidays in Wales
In March, Trefoil awarded a holiday grant to 9 year old Deacon. The grant allowed Deacon to join his mum and siblings on holiday to Haven in Wales for his 10th birthday.
Trefoil School - Looking back with Tony Cascarino
Last year, Trefoil member Sarah Lansdown met former Trefoil pupil Tony Cascarino and learnt about the impact that Trefoil School had on Tony throughout his life.
Tony attended Trefoil School from 1946 to 1952. At the time Trefoil School was based in Polkemmet House, Whitburn.
Campus Children's Holidays
Trefoil awarded a grant of £1,000 to support Campus Children’s Holidays Residential Project. Across the summer, 143 disadvantaged children benefited from the opportunity to attend this project, providing them with the much needed respite from challenging home lives.
DDX3X SUPPORT UK
In March 2018, Trefoil supported nine families to take part in the first ever DDX3X support UK family meet up.
New Trefoil Leaflet
Beneficiary, Pauline Jackson from Project Ability kindly designed a new leaflet for Trefoil. This will help spread Trefoil’s reach and allow Trefoil to support more young people with additional needs.
Trinity Sailing Club
In September Trefoil supported Trinity Sailing Club, take five young people with additional needs, on a three day sailing voyage.
Sensory Garden
Last year Castlehill Primary School sought funding from Trefoil in order to create a sensory area, to support the needs of children with Autism.
Callum's Story
With support from Trefoil, Callum now uses a sensory projector to help him get to sleep.
Minecraft Launch
In October Linda, one of Trefoil’s Trustees, attended the Minecraft launch at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. Linda met Milo, who was delighted to show Linda how the game worked.
Gympanzees
Over the summer Trefoil was delighted to support Gympanzees Pop Up activity centre for children with additional needs.
CPISRA Games
Trefoil was delighted to support Kirsty, who in August joined the Scottish squad for the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association World Games, in Barcelona.
New Trustee
At their recent board meeting the current Directors were pleased to welcome a new Trustee, Candice Donnelly, to the board of Trefoil.
Trefoil in 2018
In 2017 Trefoil committed a record £110,000 to deserving beneficiaries. Reflecting on this success at a recent meeting, the Board of Trustees resolved they would attempt to commit £120,000 over the course of 2018.
Orchard Primary School
In 2017 Trefoil pledged £6,000 to Orchard Primary School to help them turn an empty outdoor space into a playground specifically adapted to the needs of children with autism.
Drake Music - Junior Digital Orchestra
In January 2017 Trefoil continued our support of Drake Music by providing a grant of £4,350 to their fantastic Junior Digital Orchestra project.
The Teapot Trust
In March 2018 Trefoil provided a grant of £10,000 to The Teapot Trust to continue their work at Edinburgh Royal Children's Hospital.
Project Ability
Trefoil has continued our support of Project Ability with grants to aid their contribution to the upcoming World Down Syndrome Congress, taking place in Glasgow in July 2018, as well as an exhibition for World Autism Awareness Week.
Lothian Disability Sport
Last year Trefoil awarded Lothian Disability Sport a grant of £5,000 to help make sport and exercise accessible to young people across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Positive Realities
In September 2017 Trefoil made a grant of £5,000 to Positive Realities, a local organisation which helps young people with additional needs to take part in activities around Edinburgh. This helped them to establish a new initiative, Social Hub.
