Last year Trefoil awarded Lothian Disability Sport (LDS) a grant of £5,000 to help make sport and exercise accessible to young people across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

This grant assisted them with a number of initiatives. In July 70 young people took part in a Boccia Festival. This involved people of all skill levels and many people trying it for the first time who have now gone on to join local boccia clubs. The Autumn Swimming Gala, held at the Mercat Gate Pool in Perstonpans saw 40 young swimmers competing and was a great event attended by a number of Disabled Swimming clubs from the region. The Trefoil grant also helped LDS purchase adapted archery equipment to allow for taster sessions for school pupils over the Easter and summer holidays and this adapted equipment allows, in particular, people using wheelchairs and people with visual impairments to participate.

With more to come in 2018 including an inclusive dance festival and the East Parasports Festival, Trefoil is pleased to be able to assist Lothian Disability Sport with the great work they do.
