Rionagh's new Sensory Space

Rionagh received a personal development grant in January. The grant was for the purchase of a sensory lamp and climbing frame. This equipment was purchased to help Rionagh self-regulate her emotions at home in a safe place.

Since receiving the grant Rionagh has made great progress in the regulation of her emotions. Rionagh now spends time in her new sensory space, looking at the specialist lamp and at herself in the joining mirror platform.

Room with new sensory space including lights, water bubbles and floor tiles.

As Rionagh has become much calmer in the new sensory space she can now spend time with her younger brother for 5-10 minutes and interact with him. This was not previously possible. Rionagh even gave him a hug for the first time while there!

Rionagh has also managed to climb up the frame and is building confidence to climb higher.

“We thank you so much for the grant and the difference it is making and will continue to make to our daughter for along time to come.”  - Rionagh’s Mum

Trefoil continues to accept applications for personal development grants. If you know a child or young person under 25 in Scotland with additional support needs, an application can be submitted here.
