World Number 1 Tennis Ranking for Anna!
In September 2024, Trefoil awarded Anna a £2,600 personal development grant; Anna is a talented tennis player, and applied for funding to help her attend and compete in the PWII ID Australian Open in Brisbane in January 2025.
Trefoil was delighted to hear that Anna decisively won the Ladies Singles Championship 6-1, 6-1! Following her hard work and this most recent victory, Anna has maintained her Number 1 position in the world rankings for Ladies Singles.
A personal development grant allows children and young people with additional support needs to achieve their potential, with funding going towards a tailored application submitted to the Trustees. Anna used her funding to travel to Brisbane to train ahead of the Championships. Anna had the opportunity to compete in a warm-up tournament so that she should best prepare for the all-important final.
Funding also allowed Anna to travel with her parents, allowing her to have a support network on the ground in Australia.
Anna’s mum told Trefoil:
“The support has meant that Anna could get the proper training in Brisbane and she has had an amazing experience and has maintained her number 1 in the world ranking for Ladies Singles.”
Not only did Anna play tennis, she was also interviewed in the media room and featured in a promotional video for the tournament.
On her return from Australia, Anna said:
“I would like to thank Trefoil for the grant money and support. This has allowed me to travel to Australia in preparation for the PWII ID Australian Open. Your support has been instrumental in facilitating my training and acclimatisation beforehand.
The funding allowed me to train in Australia, significantly contributing to my performance. Additionally, I had the opportunity to compete in a warm-up tournament, which was an amazing experience. Doing this has proved to be invaluable, as I was able to prepare in the best possible way, which ultimately led to winning the event and the final 6-1 6-1.”
The Trustees are delighted to hear of Anna’s successes and Number 1 world ranking.
