Teapot Trust

In September 2021, Trefoil awarded an organisational grant of £500 to Teapot Trust towards their Art Therapy Project at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

The project provided 1-2-1 art psychotherapy support to 9 children and young people with chronic health conditions. The sessions were run online due to the prevailing Covid-19 restrictions using video call and ran in blocks of 8-weekly sessions. Each child received an art material pack in advance of their 1-2-1 session, which contained tailored resources for use during the session

The grant Trefoil awarded to Teapot Trust was used specifically to produce such art materials packs. Any left-over supplies were then kept and could be used by the child or young person whenever they wished. The packs included paint, pen, scissors, Play-Doh and other art supplies depending on the topic of the session.

The work Teapot Trust do through their art therapy sessions eases anxiety, reduces self-harm and suicide ideation, prevents mental health issues continuing into adulthood and eases strain on family relationships.

The project supports both the child or young person and their families. Teapot Trust state that through their evaluation process they have been able to see the positive impact these sessions make, with 93% of children and young people stating they have made a positive impact.

Art therapy was a good way to express my feelings. I enjoyed doing it but most of all it helped me understand all those feelings that were hidden for such a long time.

Trefoil are delighted to hear such positive feedback from a participant in the project, who has clearly benefitted from the art psychotherapy provided by Teapot Trust. All at Trefoil are pleased to have helped support this project.
