Isaac's Holiday to the Scottish Highlands

In the summer of 2019, Trefoil awarded £500 to help support Isaac and his family to go on an action-packed holiday to the Scottish Highlands. Isaac’s family had struggled to find affordable accommodation for the holiday that met Isaac’s needs: The grant they received from Trefoil went towards the costs of a self-catering cottage that was fully accessible.

Travelling up from the north east of England, they had some great days out.

Their trip included visiting;

  • Nairn where Isaac went inside the hotel where Charlie Chaplin stayed. They also visited Culloden visitor centre and the battlefield sites;

“Isaac was fascinated by the history of these sights” – Isaac’s mother

  • Loch Ness and Drumnadrochit;

            “[Isaac] decided that Nessie is definitely real.” – Isaac’s mother

  • Abriachan forest which was an ideal location as there was security of a good footpath and wheelchair access.

  •  Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore which was also very accessible and free to visit.
