Minecraft Launch

Last week, Linda, one of Trefoil’s Trustees attended the Minecraft launch at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. Linda met Milo, who was delighted to show Linda how the game worked. The Minecraft project gives patients an opportunity to interact virtually with their environment, allowing them to access the hospital in a fun and stimulating way, and helping them to feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar place. The project also has the accolade of being the first hospital Minecraft game in Scotland.

Kirsten, Chief Operating Officer, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said:

“We are delighted to launch Hospital Minecraft as part of our Inside Outside project, which helps children to escape the confines of their room through interactive play and technology.

“The generous support of Trefoil has helped us to create this innovative and fun way to cope with a hospital visit, and we’re sure it will be extremely helpful for our young patients.”

Linda, Trefoil Trustee, said:

"I enjoyed meeting Milo and his mum in the Adolescent Unit in the Children's Hospital where he was busy playing Minecraft on the X-box. Just having come from a clinic where he had treatment, he enjoyed blowing the clinic up on the Hospital plan in Minecraft. He then redesigned the waiting room with different seats which sank into the ground at his command.  He is very familiar with the hospital from his treatments and enjoys getting to know the different areas through the Minecraft game."
