Dale's Holiday Adventure

In February 2022, Trefoil awarded Dale a grant of £379 from the Lilias Finlay Holiday Fund. This grant enabled Dale and his family to book a holiday at Sandylands caravan site in Saltcoats.

Dale has a diagnosis of Autism and global learning delay. His diagnosis affects his ability to detect danger, communicate effectively, and impacts on his flexibility of thought and imagination meaning he requires round the clock supervision. Trefoil’s grant offered not just Dale, but his whole family a little respite from the intensity of everyday life. It was a breath of fresh air.

While on holiday Dale participated in swimming, bowling, walks along the beach and trips to the arcade. Each day there was something new and different for Dale to do, which is exactly what he needs as Dale requires regular movement throughout the course of the day. However, what is truly wonderful is to see the enjoyment Dale got out of each of these new activities.

The holiday has given the family some much needed time to relax and bond together, positively impacting on their relationships and overarching mental health.

Thank you so so much for helping me get this holiday, it was absolutely fantastic, Dale had a brilliant time.....It was a brilliant break we absolutely loved the caravan
— Gemma, Dale's Mum

All at Trefoil are delighted to have been able to provide Dale and his family with the chance to escape their everyday life at home and provide Dale with the opportunity to experience new things, building his confidence in everyday life.
