Meet Murray

Meet Murray, a young, keen, talented, and severally visually impaired Judoka. Murray has had a passion for judo for many years and continued to improve even after he began to lose his vision. In 2019/2020 he competed in events up and down the country even bringing home a bronze medal at the Scottish Championships. However, once Murray returned to judo following lockdown, it became clear that his vision had substantially deteriorated and he would require additional support in order to continue.

In May 2021 Trefoil awarded Murray £3,240 to fund an additional Judo coach to provide him with the necessary help and support he needed to continue. Ian has guided Murray through training, competitions and even camps. Both Murray’s coaches have been outstanding in helping him achieve his potential, and at a recent weekend camp Murray was awarded the trophy for the best judoka due to his attitude, determination, and the fact he took part in every single activity.

Trefoil are proud to have supported Murray in continuing his passion and are delighted to see Murray’s progress. We cannot wait to see what else this promising young Judoka can do.
